Early Bronze Age Copper Axe
A beautiful Bronze Age axe of greenish hue with substantial copper content. It has a tapered form, pronounced grooves running the length of the axe on either side, and a fine cutting edge.
Ezero culture (3300—2700 BC, Bulgaria). Elegant metallurgy from a time of fortified agricultural settlements. The piece is extraordinarily heavy for its size.
Though this piece is made of bronze, we include it in lithic as is likely that earlier models on which it is based were stone.
Excellent condition.
