Ink spray on paper, 1996.

COMMENTS
In anticipation of her sessions at Solo Press in New York in 1996, Wayne started making large ink drawings, ideas for the fields she would use in the lithographs she intended to make there. Most of these can be related to the prints she did make and are described. In the next several entries. This drawing, however, emerged as a recapitulation of her Hero theme, first seen in the lithograph and painting of 1949 and restated as Second Hero in 1962. By this third iteration, the tumbling figure of the hero has been transformed into random bursts of energy.
