COMMENTS
The Northridge earthquake of 1994 with its 6.7 magnitude shook Los Angeles bringing widespread destruction and deaths. It reminded Wayne of her earlier studies of the earth and cosmos. "Wayne’s ‘Earthquake' series brings the rupture of solid ground closest to home. Acrylic and styrene crusts on mahogany panels suggest a scattering and an ad hoc rearrangement of elements.” (from "June Wayne—A Retrospective” by Arlene Raven, Neuberger Museum of Art, 1997.)
