COMMENTS
The image features lemming-people, an idea Wayne introduced in 1955 and explored in many subsequent prints. “I think lemmings are natural metaphors for human beings. I probably picked up the idea out of science reports… And there were intermittent cartoons about lemmings in the New Yorker in the 1960’s.” (Wayne to Pat Gilmour, 1991)
