COMMENTS
Djuna Barnes (1892–1982) was a multi-talented American artist, activist for women's rights, and writer, well known for her novel Nightwood (1936), a cult classic of lesbian fiction and an important work of modernist literature.
June Wayne sometimes used “Djuna” as a nom de plume and in choosing to place Barnes in the cosmos of planets in her Cognitos series paid tribute to her.
